Depending on the firmware version of your printer, there are Remote Setup programs available for your printer. These are available for download on our Web site:
Printer f/w Version 6.0 or greater, Mobile Setup v2.0 – Coming soon
Printer f/w Version 5.5 or lower, URS program – Coming soon
You can also use the control panel to enter and configure the menus:
MtP – Push and hold the ARROW button as you turn the printer on. The printer will display “Entering Setup Menu. Release the ARROW button after the message is displayed.”
FieldPro – Push and hold the PAPER FEED button as you turn the printer on. Release the PAPER FEED button after the printer beeps twice. The printer will print out a configuration page; push the PAPER FEED as it is printing. This will get you into the SETUP menu. Use the POWER and PAPER FEED buttons to navigate through the menus.
You can charge the battery with either an AC adapter, Printek part #91373 or the in-vehicle adapter, part #91410. DO NOT USE AN ADAPTER WITH AN OUTPUT GREATER THAN 9 VOLTS DC. The battery can be fully charged in 2 hours.
Verify the printer is in Bluetooth mode:
MtP – With the printer on, push and hold the ARROW button; the display will show the active interface. It the printer not in Bluetooth mode, keep holding the button to change the active interface.

If the printer is not in Bluetooth mode, push and hold the PAPER FEED button until the printer sounds two quick beeps.
If you are using a serial interface, verify the serial settings on the host match the serial settings on the printer (baud rate, handshaking, etc.).
Verify the emulation setting in the printer matches the print job type you are using. For example, if you are sending a print job written in ZPL language, make sure the printer emulation is set for ZPL.
MtP – With the printer on, push and hold the ARROW button; the display will show the active interface. It the printer not in Bluetooth® mode, keep holding the button to change the active interface.
FieldPro – With the printer on, push the PAPER FEED button until the printer beeps once. Release the PAPER FEED button; the printer will print out the settings of the active interface. If the printer is not in Bluetooth mode, push and hold the PAPER FEED button until the printer sounds two quick beeps.
We are assuming that you are using an “LP” model printer, which has the capability of sensing either rear black marks or diecut gaps between labels on your media roll. Verify that your printer is sensing the mark or gap as required by your media, and that when the media advances, the printer is positioning the media correctly in relationship to the tear bar. Use the printer configuration settings for Left Margin and Top of Form Adjust (see MtP Operator’s Manual section on “Device Settings”) to correctly locate the image on the media face.
Printek has ZPL resident fonts available for download. To check if you have the resident fonts loaded, do a configuration printout from your printer. Any additional fonts will be listed at the end of the printout. Also check the resident font selected under the Forms menu.
Refer to the Printek Tech Bulletin for “Transitioning from 8" to 4" Wide Document Format” found in the downloads section of this Web site.
Your printer must have a Silex WI-Fi interface module installed in order to print correctly from an AS400. You can verify the module installed by printing out a configuration page. After verifying the proper module is installed in your printer, the remote printer name will be the first service listed in the Services tab. The default printer port is 9100.
Under the FORMS menu, check that the Form Feed Distance is set to MARK SENSING. There is also a Mark Sensitivity setting. You may need to adjust this setting for the printer to “see” the black mark.
Under the FORMS menu, there is a setting called “Tearbar Adj.” Use this setting to move the label to the tear bar.
NOTE: For further information, please see the troubleshooting guide for the particular printer model you are using. They are available for download on the manuals page.
